The Amazon region has an approximate area of 7,584,421 km², 60% of which within Brazil and the remainder (40%) divided among Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guiana, French Guiana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela.
The Brazilian 60%, are distributed throughout the States of Amazonas, Acre, Amapá, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins, part of Maranhão and Mato Grosso.
These States form the Legal Brazilian Amazon, with an area that corresponds to almost 60% of the Brazilian territory.
